to recoup this December holiday
Being on holiday has been long thought to be one of the best things you can do for your
stress levels. There’s even research to prove it!
If you’re one of those people (like myself) who fi nd it diffi cult to switch off and completely
unwind during your December break, not to stress (pun intended). I’ve compiled a great list
of my three top tips to help you get to grips with holiday relaxation!
Three tips to de-stress over the holidays
#1: Get off the grid!
I’m not saying you have to retreat to the wilderness or a wellness spa and rely on forage berries and nuts during your
holiday. What I am saying, however, is that you should disconnect your electronic devices and take time to get back in
touch with nature. Seriously – switch your phone and laptop off for half an hour each day, and use that time to explore the beautiful outdoors or simply relax and take time out to yourself. You’re on holiday!
#2: Treat yourself
Nothing says “holiday” quite like a massage or a spa day – can we agree on this? Thought so! It’s a great way to release
tension and relax your mind and body. Splash out on a facial, hot stone massage or mud wrap, and let all of your worries melt away. Because a little bit of pampering never hurt nobody, right? And if you look good you’ll feel better.
#3: Work it out
While it might not be the fi rst thing you think of when you’re looking for relaxation techniques, exercise is one of the most effective ways to decrease your stress levels. It helps release feel-good endorphins, which in turn releases tension. Ultimately, this improves your mood and helps you sleep better. Take a long swim or walk… Whatever your choice of workout, you’re guaranteed to feel refreshed and rejuvenated afterwards!
Let the countdown to the holidays begin!
Sun Skin Care
SUN SKIN CARE
Good skin care — including sun protection and gentle cleansing — can keep your skin healthy and glowing for years to come.
PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN
One of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, blemishes and other skin problems — as well as increase the risk of skin cancer.
For the most complete sun protection:
• Use sunscreen. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with our SPF40 Protection and Kalahari’s Mongongo Body SPF20. Apply sunscreen generously, and reapply every two hours — or more often if you’re swimming or perspiring.
• Seek shade. Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., when the sun’s rays are strongest.
• Wear protective clothing. Cover your skin with tightly woven long-sleeved shirts, long pants and wide-brimmed hats. Also consider laundry additives, which give clothing an additional layer of ultraviolet protection for a certain number of washings, or special sun-protective clothing — which is specifi cally designed to block ultraviolet rays. Stay protected this summer holiday and keep premature aging a thing of the future.
How To Get your Skin Holiday Ready
HOW TO GET YOUR SKIN HOLIDAY READY
During the summer, hot temperatures, high humidity and lots of sun exposure all contribute to water evaporating from your skin, leaving it dry and sometimes even burnt.
Here are four fabulous tips to getting holiday-ready, radiant skin during the summer months!
Four key steps to beautiful skin this summer:
#1: Use a gentle cleanser
Bin the harsh cleansers for the season and switch to a gentle one that won’t dry out your skin, like our Gentle Cleansing
Milk. The sun can be harsh enough on your complexion!
Get a good base and a radiant glow with the Enzyme Face Buff to exfoliating your dull skin away every 3rd evening. This
leaves your pores prepped and ready to add in extra moisture.
#3: Take cold showers
Sure, long, hot showers or baths are divine, but they can dry your skin out immensely. Try to take short, cold showers or baths instead. I add our Boabab Bath Oil to my bathwater for silky-soft skin
#4: Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!
Try to moisturise your skin twice or three times a day. The best time is immediately after a shower or bath. Thick, rich
moisturisers are best for maintaining the skin’s protective barrier. You can even add the Marula Face Oil to your Essential Daily Moisturiser for extra hydration.
And of course never go out without your SPF 40 Protection…
Happy summer, everyone!
